Welcome to Millstone House

Escape to the Picturesque Village of Staindrop

COVID-19 UPDATE

In line with the Government's latest guidance we are delighted to advise that Millstone House B&B will re-open on Saturday 4th July 2020.

Millstone House B&B has acquired the 'We're Good To Go' Industry Standard mark meaning that our business has followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, have a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

With just 3 double bedrooms, it is relatively easy to maintain a social distance at Millstone House. In addition to our already stringent cleaning regimes, we have put in place heightened disinfection plans to ensure all frequently touched areas are regularly disinfected. Guests will have access to hand sanitiser and antibacterial products for that extra level of reassurance.

For social distancing purposes we are requesting that all guest bookings are made online during this time. We will be in touch to ask for a fixed arrival/departure time to ensure all guest arrivals and check-outs are staggered.  We are continuing to serve cooked breakfasts between 8-9.30am (unless otherwise requested), guests can choose to stagger the time that they have their breakfast so that they are the only ones dining in the breakfast room. All food will be served directly to the table by a server wearing appropriate PPE.

Gary and Helen look forward to extending you a very warm welcome.

Luxury

This B&B is just perfect. Gary and Helen are the kindest hosts who go out of their way to make sure you have a delightful stay. It was an absolute treat to stay here and we will definitely be returning. The location is great with lots around and the house is in beautiful surroundings. The bed was extremely comfy, the food was divine, and the finishing touches, such as, freshly baked cakes made the stay that much more special.

Wedding Anniversary Stay

This is the second time we have stayed here and as before we weren't disappointed. Gary and Helen and fantastic hosts and really know how to make you feel at home. The moment we arrive they greet you with a smile and are extremely friendly.

The accommodation is second to none with everything you could ask for, the room was superb and extremely comfortable.

We've stayed in quite a lot of b&b's and the breakfast here is the best by far, nothing is too much trouble.

I doubt if this place can be beaten on quality, friendliness and definitely value for your money.

Wonderful Place to Stay, With Great COVID Measures in Place

We stayed at Millstone House last weekend, and cannot thank Gary and Helen enough. They are both lovely and went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and looked after, and on top of that they had excellent distancing/PPE precautions in place. The facilities are second to none. One of us is vegan and Gary and Helen provided an amazing breakfast for both of us and went out of their way to provide diary free milk and spread. The hot/cold drinks and snacks facilities are brilliant. The bed was the comfiest I've ever slept in, so much so that I asked Gary for the name of the mattress! We will be recommending to our friends and family and will be returning as soon as we can. Thank you!

A BIG WOW

Great warm welcome off Gary and Helen. Open the door and was straight away big smiles knowing that you will be looked after. They explained covid and how they had to where masks and always sanitizing.

This B&B was immaculate, not a speck of dust in sight. Bedding was beautiful and luxurious. I did not want to get out of it. Shampoos conditioner and body was everything you can think of is in your room really well designed. French doors onto a large patio with bench and sun lounger just perfect to relax and do nothing. Breakfast was hot and plentiful and delicious very attentive to your needs and a great view to the countryside.

Leaving this b and b was sad as I could easily have stayed for a week. Great couple, will be back definitely.

Man Just Read

For all the men this is a must I booked this for my wife surprise night away. It was so easy to book on there web site and when we got there Gary and Helen was so up for the task and nothing was to small. I had a bag full of brownie points. The breakfast was out of this world and this was welcome after a great sleep. We will see you soon Gary and Helen.

Perfect Hosts and Perfect Accommodation

What a find! Within 5 minutes of arriving we knew we'd found something special. Greeted by Gary and Helen we were given a guided tour of the facilities both in the room and those in the communal areas. We were made to feel so welcome and special from that very first moment. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The room was lovely and light, airy and spotlessly clean. A comfortable (and huge!) bed and lovely shower meant every day started on the right note.. and then on to the breakfast. Breakfast at Millstone House, what can I say? The highlight, even on top of everything else. Generous portions, quality local produce (including effs from the chickens outside our bedroom windows) and a good selection. You have to stay at least 3 days or you'll be missing out on at least on of their great cooked selections. Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup was a personal favourite. Gary and Helen have put their heat and soul into Millstone House and have created something special. We're already planning our next trip!

What a Gem!

Amazing find in County Durham. This modern B&B is more like a boutique hotel, beautifully set in a newly constructed property on the edge of Staindrop. Gary and Helen have created a wonderful purpose built B&B with 3 en-suite rooms. Immaculate, comfortable, spacious, with all mod cons and some that I didn't know existed! The warmth of welcome was as exceptional as the breakfast. Thanks so much and looking forward to returning.

Great Value for Money! 5 Star!!

What a gem! This B&B is exceptional - very comfortable, warm with all mod cons, and top quality breakfasts. Gary and Helen are fantastic hosts - friendly, accommodating and will go out of their way to improve your stay if they can. Fantastic extra little touches which enhances the 'away from it all experience'. We would certainly recommend and will return at some point! Without doubt this best B&B we have ever been to!  Thank you for a wonderful stay, perfect!

Marvellous Find

Millstone House is a first rate B&B. Gary and Helen give you a very warm welcome to their lovely home. We had an immaculate stylish room with every convenience - fabulous shower room and very comfortable bed. Welcome homemade cakes were delicious and there was a complimentary refreshments area with a comprehensive selection of tea, coffee and biscuits with fresh milk available. Lovely views from our room and excellent breakfast. We look forward to going back.

Perfect Stay

I booked this as a birthday and anniversary present for my husband as part of visiting Durham/doing a stargazing event. It was sensational and I highly recommend it if you get the chance to stay here. The setting is peaceful and idyllic surrounded by fields with horses. The communal guest areas are light, bright and well thought out with fancy coffee making facilities and loads of snacks. The room was spacious with a tastefully done bathroom and huge doors overlooking the countryside. The bathroom had a huge sloped ceiling with high tech velux windows. The room had plenty of tech. The bed was very comfortable with good quality pillows/bedding as wall as fully towels and bathrobes. The bathroom smelt amazing. There was freshly baked cake in the room on arrival which was a nice touch. The breakfast was made to order wand was very tasty although we went for the big breakfast and struggled to finish it because it was so filling!

The attention to detail was second to none, with lots of thought clearly put in. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming and take the effort to get to know you. They offered us a flask of hot chocolate to take to the stargazing along with a torch and umbrella. Just littles gestures that made a big difference. We definitely will return.
