Welcome to Millstone House

Escape to the Picturesque Village of Staindrop

Gary and Helen look forward to extending you a very warm welcome.

Millstone House  is a high end, adult only Bed and Breakfast, which can be found on the outskirts of the historic village of Staindrop, County Durham.

There are many great destinations on our doorstep, for example, Raby Castle is only a 3 minute drive, inside 10 minutes you can find yourself visiting places such as Barnard Castle, a 20 minute drive will take you to Bishop Auckland or Darlington and Durham City is only a half hour drive away.

If it is a weekend treat or a longer relaxing getaway you are looking for, then Millstone House is the perfect setting for your tranquil stay in our luxurious Bed and Breakfast.

Millstone House can also be used as a great base for visiting an array of amazing places further afield including places like the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, the east coast and York. If you fancy some retail therapy then the Metrocentre in Gateshead is less than an hours drive away.

We are also ideally located for visiting fantastic local attractions like Kynren (June-Sept), Locomotion at Shildon, the Bowes Musuem, Beamish - the Living Museum of the North, and also events at Raby Castle, The Witham in Barnard Castle and The Scarth Hall in Staindrop.

There is ample free on-site secure parking. All of our bedrooms are located on the groundfloor (see our access statement for further information).

Although we love all our four legged friends, it is with regret that we do not accept any pets at Millstone House.

Millstone House offers three large luxury bedrooms, en-suite facilities, TV, free WIFI, hairdryer, luxury toiletries, bathrobes and super king beds.

Bedroom One

This west facing bedroom overlooks a garden shrubbery, where you may see our resident Hens roaming freely about their home environment.

Bedroom Two

This south facing room looks out over unspoilt views of the lower Teesdale Countryside.

Bedroom Three

Just like bedroom two, this south facing room is delightful catching the morning sun and looking out over unspoilt views of the lower Teesdale Countryside.

The Ultimate B&B

Breakfast... WOW...fruit, yogurt, croissants, patries and an amaxing choice of cooked breakfasts. There is plenty to do in the area, we visited beautiful Barnard Castle, spectacular High Force Waterfall and the fascinating Raby Castle which is a walk or bike ride away from Millstone House.

Don't hesitate to book, you will not be disappointed!

Outstanding, World Class B&B

The house is beautiful, surrounded by far reaching views, terraces, large beds, beautiful bathrooms. Breakfast is Michelin Star quality. The hosts are just to very kind, warm and friendly. It is a stunning place. Facilities for drinks, snacks are excellent. We arrived to break a journey for a night and stayed three. We look forward to returning!

This B&B should be a benchmark for how to run a guest house. The house is stunning, spotlessly clean and in a lovely setting. The owners have thought of everything that guests could possibly want and provided it.

Fantastic B&B

This is not just any B&B. Absolutely 5 star in everything. Every inch of this place has been thoughtfully designed and is of the highest quality. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished, the bathrooms, the same. Hosts, Helen and Gary, are attentive, friendly and welcoming, the breakfasts are superb. It's everything you could wish for and more. Highly recommended.

Outstanding, more than a B&B

This is perfect for couples wanting relaxing, romantic weekend away, childfree! There is so much to do in and around the area but you may just want to enjoy your accommodation, and in the nicer weather relax on the sun beds on the large patio area. Book now, you will not be disappointed!

More than worth it!

We have returned from a 2 night stay, all we can say is it was more than worth the visit. Gary and Helen are fantastic hosts, nothing is too much trouble and breakfasts are a treat that sets you up for the day. 5 star accommodation and we are looking forward to returning later on in the year.

We booked into Millstone House for a birthday treat for one night having seen the website.  We werent disappointed. As you approached Millstone House we were immediately impressed with the spacious and secure car park. The B&B experience is one of a subtle blend of commercial, domestic with a contemporary feel. The only disappointment was that we were only there for one night, we would have been happy to stay longer. The whole place is of a very high quality, we will definitely be returning again.

A first Class B&B

This new B&B which is simply first class.

The standard of accommodation is excellent as are the facilities provided. Gary and Helen are superb hosts, whose objective is to make sure their guest have a rather special experience in a lovely location.

We look forward to staying at Millstone House in the future.
